The Red Grouper’s body coloration is typically reddish-brown color often with many white spots. When aggravated (they are highly territorial) or involved in spawning activities, these fish can very rapidly change coloration patterns, with the head or other parts of the body turning completely white, and the white spots appearing more intense.
Red grouper, like a number of other grouper species, are long-lived, slow to mature, beginning life as females, with some later transforming into males.
Jeff and Jen were on their honeymoon down in Cape Coral, FL for the week. Jeff loved fishing and Jen loved the ocean, so they decided to spend one day with us out on the open sea.
We were honored! We took some time to cruise around some of the smaller islands, even stopping on some so Jen could explore and beachcomb.
Then it was down to business. Jeff showed off his skills by pulling in no less than five red groupers and two kingfish! Even though Jen wasn’t the fishing enthusiast that Jeff was, she go it on the action and pulled in a red grouper all her own! They both said that it was the perfect day to enjoy together as a newlyweds. Congrats!
